About Allen Lake
Allen Lake is seven acres — a pond by most reckonings, four tenths of a mile of shoreline and two tenths of a mile across at its widest. It sits in the northern Wisconsin lake country west of Mercer.
There is no public boat landing on record here, and the state has no fisheries designation on it. That is not the same as the lake being closed or private; it means no public access has been catalogued, which on a water this size usually means carrying in, walking in, or knowing someone.
A lake this small is not going to appear in a guidebook, and there is nothing published about it worth repeating. What can be said honestly is what the survey says: it is small, it is quiet, and whoever fishes it is not sharing it with a crowd.
